Adaptive Reuse Study - San Francisco, California

LDA Architects, with EHDD Architects and Sobel and Associates, prepared a comprehensive study to examine the potential of providing for the growing needs of the San Francisco Superior and Municipal Courts. The site was the Old Main Library, a Beaux Arts building soon to become available with the completion of the City's New Main Library.

The program, previously completed by the architects, called for studying the feasibility of providing for 233,000 square feet of new Courtrooms and supporting spaces, offices of the Court Clerks, the county Probation Department, and the Sheriff's temporary holding facilities. The study recognized the historical significance and grandeur of the former Library as a suitable space for the Courts Facilities Expansion.
