El Camino Real Retail Building
San Bruno, California

The El Camino Real Retail project is a two thousand square foot
free standing building designed to house a coffee shop such as a
Starbucks or a Peets.
LDA Architects was hired to help the owner of a pet hospital evaluate
the development potential of the property and a lot split. LDA worked
with the city planner to develop options for both retail and office
developments on this site.
The design above is one of the retail design options developed
for the owner to communicate his vision to the city planner and
potential tenants.
The building sits along a busy section of El Camino Real opposite
a regional shopping center. The design acknowledges the context
of the street and embraces the language of traffic. Opposing curved
roofs create a sensual silhouette of a fast moving sports car. This
distinctive shape and its orientation enable it to be seen and recognized
from far away.
With metal roofs, high ceilings, and full height aluminum windows,
this modern building is well suited to accommodate a high end or
high-tech retail tenant.
