San Ramon Valley Fire Station
San Ramon, California

LDA recently completed an Apparatus Building for the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District. This 3-bay facility was designed around specific pieces of equipment, and included a workshop and office that supplemented their existing Station 31 facility. This structure was purpose-built to house the District’s Emergency Communications Vehicle. Additionally, the project resolved a specific issue with noise abatement for the entire site.
LDA worked closely with Assistant Fire Chief Steve Hart (and his now-retired predecessor, Assistant Chief Chris Suter) and W E Lyons Construction Co. (for constructabilityand cost management), to develop a sensible and economical design.
LDA met with the Town of Danville to determine how to best satisfy that community’s rigorous design standards. With full cooperation, the LDA design achieved the approval of the Town’s Design Review Committee, by integrating the new with the old in a form and scale that was sensitive to its residential surroundings.
The 2,360 square foot structure, new high-load pavement, and 300-foot sound wall was built by Aztec Constructors of San Ramon at a construction cost of $1.2 million.
