San Ramon Valley Fire Station
San Ramon, California

The San Ramon Valley Fire Department Apparatus Building is a design-build
structure added to the site of an existing fire station. This structure
houses two fire trucks, an emergency vehicle, and a private office.
The building is sited at the end of an irregular shaped lot bordering
Freeway 680. LDA designed a wedge shaped building that nestles in
a grove of Mature Redwood trees. This site design strategy minimizes
the impact of the building while preserving most of the mature trees
on the site.
The materials and architecture of the Apparatus Building matches
that of the existing Fire Station. Utilizing hand trowel stucco
and applied architectural shape trim, the design brings scale and
interest to the public elevations. The back of the building uses
a pre-manufactured building system to economically provide the high
bay and wide span enclosure for fire trucks.
